Help these folders are driving me
(127 posts)You seem to have a basic bug in your system. Apparently the fixes we'd done the other day did not permanently fix it.
Yes you can do a system restore to an earlier date. But then you loose things you have done since. So let's first try a few other things:
1. Open command prompt => type CMD into the Start Search box > right click on cmd above > run as administrator > into the black OS screen type SFC /SCANNOW -- make sure there is a blank before the slash(/). This may fix some files if it can. It will run for a couple of minutes and tell you what it found.
2. Run CCleaner - both the normal clean and the registry clean. Get it from here: http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Then come back and let us know what happened. We may have to fix the folders as we did earlier, but maybe then it will be for good. If not, we'll look at system restore.
In the same folder that music and pictures is in, create 2 new folders called music2 and pictures2.
Move (not copy) all the files from music to music2, and the same for the pictures.
Delete the music and pictures folders.
Rename the 2 folders ending in 2, to the original names (without the 2)
whs the scan finished it says widows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them details are included in the cbs log windir\logs\cbs\cbs\.log.log for example c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log the system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot
