Help need help badly

hey i accidentaly drop my gateway laptop off my bed and the screen is cracked is there any way to salvage it or save my harddrive like back it up an if so how? o btw i cant see the bottom half of my screen..im on my desktop.

As long as it's just the screen that was cracked (and no circuitry just underneath it) , and nothing got broken inside the laptop at the same time. Then it is fairly easy to replace.
You can also take out the hard drive, get an external 2½ box. Put the drive in that. And recover your data

I would get in touch with the manufacturer and ask for the price to replace the screen. Maybe the disk survived. Can you still operate it enough to check that? All the other parts are less touchy.

It is impossible for me to say exactly, as the laptop is not in front of me to test. If you have a repair shop nearby that you know are good, ask them to check it out. I would not advise you just to go out and buy a new screen. (Especially not from the manufacturers of your computer)
