Have to use search to open folders

Every time I open a folder, Windows XP make me search for the contents of folder instead of just opening the folder. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Yeah, I have an idea. When you open a folder you see the following toolbar.

File Edit View Favorites Tools Help

And below that you see:

Back Forward | SEARCH

If you click that it should disable search within the folder.
