Harddrive Format
(11 posts)so i can delete my crashed and xxxxxx up vista version so that i can then reinstall it.

The problem is that when i put in the recovery or origignal cd the load but after w while the screen goes black and the i freezes. as by warrenty just ran out about 2 months ago i just desided to format the hard drive and reinstall vista but as its a laptop i cant take out the hard drive and put it into another computer to format it with windows formating tool so i was wondering if their is a good, fast and efficient tool which can be run from a usb or cd/dvd whiwh alows be format by 250gb harddrive. i really need to fix this problem so can you help now and no im not destroying enyone elses computer.
Well, if you are having battery drops, not much will help. Get that fixed first.
From the Vista Install CD you can do a FORMAT during install or from the command prompt. Have you tried that? Shift-F10 should get you to the COMMAND PROMPT and you can run FORMAT C:. More DETAILS here.
