Hard Drive Question

Hi.
I recently bought three(3) Seagate Hard drives with 500GB on all three. I plan on running them together with Raid 5. My question is would it be possible to use a Western Digital hard drive with only 80GB to run the OS (XP SP3) on the small hard drive and have them all connected?

Also would it be easier to buy another hard drive to use as a back up drive or could i use one of the ones i already have?

Brad,
Raid 5 stripes BOTH data and parity information across (3) or (more) hard drives.
Use a (minimum) of (3) (identical) hard drives for this configuration.
Use (Identical) hard drives in all matrix configurations.
Simple put, there is a reason for this (too long to go into here).
Purchase another (Identical) Seagate 500 Gig.
READ YOUR MANUAL.
Maybe you can use the WD 80 Gig on another controller for some extra storage.
The WD 80 Gig may even be a generation I (150) SATA. Check the Specs.

this is kind of how i set up my computers. i'll use an 80gb for the o/s then use separate hard drives instead of keeping everything in the o/s. plus it makes wiping the hard drive quicker for that fresher install
