You know I don't think i had ever heard of it until now. but I suppose i could have just searched on Google for it. I did and found good ole' wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day look at the part about the Americas. I guess thats where doorbell ditching came from .....

Lighthouse, we never celebrated May Day in my house growing up. And while it is known here in America, it gets very little play on the news or in schools and offices. So, for those to whom May Day is a big deal, I'm interested to know what does it mean to you? I can read the wikipedia article but that won't tell me what it means to real people and how it is received in different countries. So, please, enlighten me.

@jack, I think that lighthouse was saying that you need to get out more if you have not heard of may day not that you are on HTG too much.

@ScottW. It is nowadays mostly only celebrated in small villages, and the dancing done by children.
But it also a special time for getting married, as it is a celebration of fertility.
