Help!
My mother in law has just bought a new PC.
She has an email account which she managed to open with help from a grandaughter.
Now every time she opens he "Windows Mail" a pop up box asks her for her username and password.
She has been puting in what she thinks is correct, but it will not accept it at all.

I've tried talking her through things but to no avail.

Can anyone think of a way around this?

Alan

You might be able to reset the password if you contact the email provider, or you might be able to recover the password, and have it emaild to a different account after you verify that its your account

If it is the correct password then there are a couple things that could be wrong:
1. The server settings are incorrect. You should look in Tools->Accounts and make you have the servers correct.
2. The format of the user name is wrong. Some email servers require the whole email address as the user name not just the user name part.

At my work, weve seen a lot of problems with peoples isos being messed up or down, so that might be the problem

Alan, it's also possible that Granny is locked out of the e-mail account because of too many attempts. It might help to call or contact the mail provider for a password reset. Unless there is a backup e-mail address where reset passwords can be sent, this will have to be done by talking to a live person.

first of u need to know , does ur EMAIL service provider support POP3 service or not ?? its bcoz , some provider like Yahoo charges for it and so u must have to pay before use it and without activating it you can not use it ... moreover , if u want it for Gmail , u must activate it too .. it can be done from settings in gmail.
in worst case u may have forgotten ur email password but i think its not the case here .... bt u can get new password from email provider its pretty easy if u still remember the reference email that you provided at time of registration of that ID.
i hope it will help u ...

good luck

Alan, she might have thought of the wrong user name and password. It is most likely asking for the username and password given to her by the ISP when she got DSL - and maybe she did not use that.
