Gmail in Safari

Unlike IE-7 and Mozilla, Safari Gmail will not recognize stored email-names and self complete them in 'To' or 'CC' or 'BC'. Is there a setting I'm missing; Gmail settings do not seem to address the problem.

If you look at the bottom of gmail by "Gmail View:" does it show standard as black text or a blue link.
If it's a blue link you are in basic html mode and clicking the standard link should get you back to the standard view.
