Every tome I log on to gmail I will check some mail and then it will freeze. How would I fix that?

What browser / operating system are you using? It could be some popup / spyware thing.

Right. I have never used IE with Gmail. Go here: http://getfirefox.com <- download that and tell me if it happens in Firefox.

What version of IE are you running? I use gmail with IE 6 and 7 and have not had this issue.

Also - try emptying IE's cache and do a Disk Cleanup.
