Hi, got your email requesting suggestions to your website & newsletter. First, love your site and newsletter. You offer some great tips. About me: I have 7 PCs in my household. 4 run XP, and I use 3 which consist of Vista Ultimate, Vista/Ubuntu dual boot, and XP/Ubuntu dual boot. Lately been enjoying the stability of Linux. So more info on solving basic Linux problems would be appreciated. But I realize the rest of the world is embracing Vista, so am still discoving new things about Vista. Some possible recent things I found fixes for in Linux are:
-getting drivers for HP, Canon, and Brother printers,
-network sharing between other PCs on my network with Samba,
-printing to PDFs,
-ripping CDs to MP3's,
-converting flac/wav to MP3 format,
-support for iPods,
-listening to streaming Internet Radio (plugins for Real Audio, WMP),
-adding themes, login screens
-watching DVDs,
-setting up email POP3 email accounts in the Email program (Evolution & Thunderbird),
-capturing screenshots,
-working with ZIP,RAR,TAR files,
-working with OpenOffice,
-doing back-ups by burning CDs and DVDs
-wireless networking (to do)
-getting drivers for HP, Canon MFP, Brother printers (to do),
-printing over my network (to do),
-Internet phone calls (to do)
-file managers (Konqueror, Thur, others?)
-running Windows apps with "wine"
-running uTorrent/P2P under Wine
That's all for now...
Jim
