In the topic about desktop icons, my friend Lighthouse (Don't Panic) mentions using FreeCommander (http://www.freecommander.com/) instead of Windows Explorer.

What's better about FreeCommander? Is it worth installing? I'm pretty good with Windows Explorer, but if there's something that works better . . .

And if I install FC, can I still use WE if I don't like FC?

You have to try to know, but I'm biased cos I love it.
And yes you can still run the 2 side by side (no pun intended)

There is also xplorer² lite, which is similar if you find you don't like FC. I use it occasionally, but I really just stick to Windows explorer.

xplorer lite is not too bad, but it is only single pane, and the last time I used it (about 7 months ago) there were problems with Vista
