GiveAway of the Day has ScreenDash today as it's giveaway.
There are a lot of free ones out there too,but it seems like a nice screencapture tool with a lot of extra's, so if you don't have one, this might be your chance ;)

One thing to note:
I just installed it and it attracks the extensions of images to itself: png, jpg, jpeg, bmp, gif and tif. When you uninstall you have to setup the association for these files again.
Me myself I hate it when apps do that ...

Hmm, nice find but wouldnt the built-in Screencapture tool within Windows 7 be easier for Windows7-users? What does ScreenCapture have which the builtin Windows7ScreenCapture doesnt have? Whats so good about it?

Just noticed in the comments someone remarks that it crashes on Windows 7.

It's not a perfect app (not by a long shot), but it makes it easier to upload screenshots and it allows for a little editing. Not only of the screenshots it makes, but also other images.
And it is a topic which comes up every now and again - how to take a screenshot, how to upload it, how to take a screenshot of a webpage etc. This is just one more app in the list of possibilities.

Free alternatives are SnagIt and one of my favorites FastStone ScreenCapture.

And not free, but very good is WinSnap.

Edit: and I don't have Windows 7 installed yet, so I can't compare the inbuilt options there.

One of the ones I used, besides the Windows Snipping Tool is TNT which is free for home use. The windows tool is OK for small markings but TNT is more comprehensive in the things you can add to a screenshot.

The snipping tool is the same one that is in Vista it seems. It wasn't easy to find in Vista as I recall, and if you removed PC Tablet functions you couldn't see it. On W7 this isn't the case it seems, been moved in 'mainstream'.

TNT seems to work in 64 bit W7, so far, even though it isn't listed as supported. but in the forums there had been some Vista problems (which I never saw?).

I really like FastStone Capture. It does a lot more than the Windows screen capture facilities. All my annotated picture posts are made with it - e.g. here - my 3d posting. I paid the $19.95 for a lifetime license. Then I found out that there is still an earlier free version around.

Ha Irv, yes I have TNT installed too (ok, I know that's weird to have several LOL - I just like to compare and sometimes need different functions), but as I recall that wasn't free?
Will have a look later on - might get me a newer version in that case <LOL LOL LOL>.

Edit: yep, it is here and you are right it is free for personal use!
But it doesn't make a difference for me - I have version 2.1 LOL

As for the quick uploading, I use RightLoad. Right click on any image and immediately upload it to Tinypic.com, Flickr, Facebook or ImageShack.
