i have a dual boot system vista and windows 7,if i format my hardrive can i reinstal windows 7 from my upgrade disc,ie a clean install,how would i go about it, many thanks ian

If I understand, you are wanting to do a complete clean install of W7 with an upgrade disc. I think an upgrade disc is exactly that you can upgrade from Vista to W7. Some comments at this link.
