Thanks for that link, I've got it bookmarked to read later. The first bird that came to mind when I saw the photo above was a B-17. I've crawled through the one at the Air Museum in Palm Springs many times.

Rick, we took apart and reassembled double row radial engines at PIA. just to learn about them. They were all donated and we were never allowed to run any of them on a stand, so don't know if they might have run or not. Tough to get the magnetos in time. I guess they were just too old to spend a lot of time on in school. To outdated if you wanted a job in the market at the time. That was 20 plus years ago.

Oh yeah, way before my time but they got the job done in WW II.
