Even though everyone thinks I'm a computer expert, I'm not. I have windows xp home edition and I kept getting a message virtual memory low. I tried deleting what I didn't need from my hard drive, but that didn't help. I had 256mg of memory, so I purchased and installed 1gb of memory in the slot my 256mg was in and moved that to the second slot as was suggested at the computer store. It still is coming up virtual memory low. What do I do now?

Welcome to the forums...

Start...Settings...Control Panel...System...Advanced tab. In Performance hit the Setting button, then go to the Advanced tab. In the Virtual Memory area push the Change button. There you will have options. You can choose System Managed Size or Custom size. If you go with custom, I recommend that you use your current RAM amount as the initial size and twice your RAM amount as the Maximum size, you can always adjust it later if you need more.

Thanks for replying so quickly. Just want to make sure I set it correctly. It's telling me my intial size is 372 and max 744. It says my recommended size is 1905 mb, so do I change my initial size to 1905mb and max to 3810mb?

I'd go with 1280 initial and 2560 max for the first try and if you still run into issues with it bump it up to your numbers.
