Is there any way to keep Firefox from opening multiple windows?

My ideal solution would be to add something to the end of the target command for the shortcut on the desktop, so that when clicked it opens a new tab in the current window.

This would keep anyone else using the computer from opening a new window, closing my open window, and thus destroying my session.

Thank you in advance.

if you click with the middle button on your mouse it will open in a new tab or if you right click then do open in new tab
