Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible for Firefox to identify file-types and download them to various locations on-disk accordingly?

For instance;
Click on Download Torrent, Firefox identifies the file as a *.Torrent file and downloads the file to your pre-set Torrent folder.
Click on Download PDF, Firefox identifies the file as a *.Pdf and downloads the file to your pre-set PDF folder.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Regards.

Hi Sam. No. That's not possible. You can only have one download folder.

As a little help, you can do the following: Go to your Download folder > Organize > Folder and search options > View button > and uncheck the box shown in the picture. This way the file extension is always displayed with the file and you can tell them easily apart.

Thank you for your quick replies - very helpful!

Perhaps someone will make an extension one day!

Hey sampielogic. Maybe that's a little project you might do (to fill in those spare minutes) :)

There is a Firefox extension to download to a different folder based on file type. See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/25
