IsuckAtcomputer, you have selected DDR3 memory but the motherboard only accepts DDR2. That won't work. Also, I see that this motherboard has many bad reviews and is rated at 3 out of 5 eggs with 52 reviews. That's not good. Maybe you should keep the memory and find a nice DDR3 motherboard with a 4 or 5 egg rating.

When I built my system over a year ago, I used the GIGABYTE GA-X38T-DQ6 (4 of 5 eggs with 101 reviews for the X38 (DDR2) model) for the mobo, it is a DDR3. Nowadays, you would be looking at the X48T or X58T versions. Good idea to keep with the memory specs on the approved memory pages. To really cut down on lag on high setting (don't forget, monitor resolutions matter huge here) you will need to go with a crossfire or SLI solution depending upon your mobo, so make sure you get ATI cards if your mobo supports crossfire or nVidia if your mobo supports SLI.

hey, try this motherboard out, its $300 but i think worth the money.
it takes DDR3 memory, so no need to change the memory back to DDR2, and its got some good reviews.
worth a look at

XFX SLi motherboard DDR3

No, not better. Now you have chosen a Core i7 CPU that needs a socket 1366 motherboard and have switched to a different socket 775 motherboard with a chipset that also doesn't support Core i7.

isuckat computer, here is what i suggest if you are on a budget like i was when i built my PC like a month ago.
if you want the latest then YES by all means go for the new Corei7, but that means you will have to get a motherboard like Scottw said with the new 1366 socket, the older LGA775 supported CPUS from pentuiums all the way to quad core extreme, but the latest core i7 uses a different socket, which in turn means alot more money!!!
in my opinion, here is what you should get: great hardware and yet still not breaking the bank either.....

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz
XFX MBN790IUL9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI ATX Intel Motherboard DDR3 (see my previous link) its a great motherboard and reliable
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1800 (PC3 14400) Dual Channel Kit
Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM (x2 if you want the raid 0 config)
Geforce 9800 Gtx (you will have a SLi motherboard (above) so later on you can get another 9800Gtx and double your power) NICE!!!
and the case and power supply you mentioned in the post.

all in all it will be a great gaming system. it wont be latest but it will be more than enough to play the latest games.
i have a similar system and i have no issues only happy gaming.
