A Field Guide to FF3
(24 posts)FF3 sounds great. Can I start downloading it at midnight local time, or will the servers be swamped? I look forward to seeing my name in the next Guinness Book of World Records along with the millions of others who participate. "Look, Honey! Right there on page 2753 you can see my name, just switch the microscope lens to 250x" :D
For those who are not aware, the Mozilla Foundation is trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloads in one 24 hour period. They are asking folks to download FF3 on launch day (tomorrow, 17 June 2008).

I was only kidding about publishing the names. Also, Scott, you only have to download 3.0.0 to help with the record. You don't have to install it until the first update is available.
I saw that guide yesterday, it sounds like Firefox 3 will have some nice improvements.
@ScottW: Unfortunately, it would appear not. According to http://twitter.com/mozillafirefox the download day starts at 10:00 am PDT.
Edit: Corrected PST to PDT for daylight time.
I shall download and run the Portable App version on an SD card tomorrow.
(Should be 3.0 by then, http://portableapps.com/apps/i.....x_portable)
As a teetotaler, I had to look up Beuajolais Nouveau to find out what the craze was. So, are you saying that downloading this free software is like buying wine because of marketing hype? If I and some other "adult people" fall for this dastardly Mozilla scheme, we are not behaving like adults?
I think Firefox 3 is an exciting product release even if there was no Download Day. But I will probably become inebriated with the new features and continue to spend my hard-earned money on more and more copies of this free product.
No problem with the product. I was just elaborating on the fact that everyone wants to get in the first day - Download day. That is the Beaujolais Nouveau craze. All over the world, people are lining up that specific day in November when this cheap Beaujolais get shipped to them and sold for an outrageous price. And at 12.01 AM that day they can finally open the bottles. The day before they could have bought a much better wine for less money - but no - it must be on that day and that shipment. I guess the good part with FF3 is, that at least it does not cost any.
