External hard drive in foreign language

Hey Brainiacs and all around geniuses, I have an external hard drive that suddenly began listing all files in what appears to be a foreign language. I have done virus scans but don't seem to have a virus. What could this be? Anyone else have this problem, and more importantly, what can I do to reverse this? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Jlreeves1 Hi. Welcome to HTG. On whatever operating system you have, run a disk integrity check/error check on the drive. The FAT or MFT of the drive might have been corrupted.
