Is ExpressCard a big enough improvement to not buy a laptop because it has a PC Card (Type II in this particular case) instead of a ExpressCard.

Also, does ExpressCard 54 automatically support ExpressCard 34. I see laptops listed as ExpressCard 54/34 and ExpressCard 54 so I wasn't sure.

Thanks in advance.

After a quick check of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExpressCard I think I can answer your questions.
1. The main improvement seems to be that ExpressCard is faster then PC Card. So it depends on what you want to do with the slot. If you want to use a device the needs the speed ExpressCard provides then you would want it.
2. ExpressCard has two card sizes named 34 and 54. Due to the 34 having the same connector as the 54 you can use either size in a 54 size.
You cannot use a 54 in 34 slot as it would be to big.
The listings of ExpressCard 54/34 are probably a size 54, just with 34 added for marketing purposes.
