I am attempting to transfer my local ISP's (embarqmail account) to Windows Mail program. However, when I use the transferring tool in Windows Mail it is unsuccessful. There could be different ports that I have to go through, but when I search the site and use the help section, I can't find the information that I need. Can you help me to transfer my outside ISP email tool so that I can use my Windows Mail program for my email instead of going to the site everytime I want to check my email?

Thanks for all of your help,
NewLady

I'm not familiar with embarq, though here's a link that might be useful.

Windows Mail Configuration
Technicians may receive calls from customers about configuring Windows Mail for a new email address or to get help with advanced configuration like importing an Address Book. Below is an overview of basic steps you can take to perform these tasks with the customer.

Thank you randomaccess for the reply. However, I did succeed in the first steps but it keeps popping up the logon to server window. After about 20 times of reinputting the username and password (that I had completed in the initial steps and checked the server needs authentication section), I realized that it possibly needed a different set of ports to complete the process.

Can you find out what ports it needs to be so I can receive and send email for me?

Try using port 587 instead of port 25.
You can also try port 465 but it may not be supported.
Port 25 is often blocked by various companies.

I'm assuming you are configuring for POP, and not IMAP.
One other thing to check is Secure Sockets for Sending - I've had some trouble sending using the "Never" setting, but the "If Available STARTTLS" works.
You can also try unchecking the Authentication box and see if that does it.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Perfect...thanks so much "randomaccess". It worked just fine and that was what it was. Also, instead of me just putting in the login id I had to include the entire email address as my login id for it to work.
