explorer is running slow...

My friend is using windows 7 RC in her laptop. Whenever i try to open "computer" or any window like control pannel etc., it doesn't open. The green bar comes in the address pane and it never completes(it goes slow and finally stucks at the refresh button). This is so annoying. She has MSE installed which is up to date. I even scanned her laptop in safe mode and no virus was detected. This happens every time i explore a new window.
Please help...

is it an old laptop, does it have sufficient hardware to run Win7? RAM, CPU ect?
any strange processes on the task manager? whats the Page file usage?

Its the latest dell inspiron 1525 model with core 2 duo T6500 processor 2.2Ghz, 2Gb RAM. The hardware is quite sufficient to run windows 7. Page file usage is 1Gb.

By chance it is an upgrade from Vista? I have a Dell 1525 Inspiron and I don't get any green bar. Can you explain?
