excessive paging

I have windows vista home premium.when I run a report it says excessive paging.Busy memory.what does that mean and what can I do about it.My c drive is 78% clear

1 Gb is really not enough.
I think you may be running a program that is heavy on ram usage.
Have a look in Task Manager > Processes, and see if there is anything that is using a lot of memory

I should have explained that paging is what happens when you don't have enough ram for the system & programs to run. What happens then, is, the system uses the hard disk as a temporary area to store data, and move it backwards and forwards between hard disk and ram, as it is needed.
Hard work for the disk, and slows the system quite a lot.

If you look through your Startup, and disable anything that is running at startup that you don't need, that will help.
Uninstalling a program you don't need will not help (but will give you a little more disk space)

At the very minimum, you want an Antivirus and an Antispyware program enabled.
Anything else is personal preference.
If you could post a list of what's in there, we can maybe make some suggestions.

how do I check start up programs? I can't use windows defender because I have trend Micro and they said turn off windows defender

press the Win and R keys (at the same time)
type in "msconfig" (without the quotes) press enter
Select Startup

I am presuming the MicroTrend is their Anti Virus/Spyware program.
If so, you can uncheck everything except microsoft software and trend micro
