Excel Formula Needed

I am trying to find out what formula I could you for this situation – any idea?

I have an ongoing worksheet with data points and dates – so

COLUMN A COLUMN B

DATE WEIGHT

I have another worksheet which is a high level snapshot of various detail about those data points – ie grand total, averages, and some charts but I want to have a cell on that summary sheet which would show me the last weight entry from column B.

So as an example if I enter the weight for today, I want the cell on the summary sheet to automatically show today's weight value. Is there a formula I can use that would accomplish this?

Hi Emma

If we can assume that the last date entered is the most recent date then we can use a vlookup to get what you need e.g.

=VLOOKUP(MAX(Sheet1!A1:A100),Sheet1!A1:B100,2,FALSE)

The MAX statement looks for the most recent date in column A which, to Excel, is also the highest number.

Give this a try and see if it works for you.
