European Plug (Fuse)
(15 posts)Well the power lead I have for the monitor (came in the box with a European plug) says 10 A, 250V (on the end which goes into the monitor)
However, the end which actually goes into the mains says 16A 250V ?!
So I need that into a UK plug, and all I have to do that is a 1 A adapter which says 'for shaver use only'
So, am I still right that literally replacing the 1 amp fuse inside that adapter with a 10 A one will let me use my monitor as normal?
This is electrical part of the stats online:
Power:
100 to 240 VAX/50 or 60 Hz+- 3 Hz/2.0A (Max.)
Power Consumption Operational:
65W(typical) / 75W (Maximum)
Power Consumption Sleep:
Less than 2 Watts
In relation to your last point, does that mean plugging the power cable through the 1 amp adapter would be ok anyway? Would it not still blow?
I'm not entirely sure here - sorry
What about these radio fuses? or is it still in relation to cars? http://www.halfords.com/webapp.....yId_165562
Thanks
just found
It's a CEE 7/7 plug
This will be ok won't it?

Just looked at this thread: I live in the UK and am a qualified electrician. @Aleeve that link was correct. Shaver sockets (UK) are 110/115v ac <<(isolating) British Standard BS3535>> and should not be used for anything else other than a.....shaver!! Because it is an isolated circuit (from the mains) there is no earth. Also, you are limited to around 8 watts!! So have a shave or charge your toothbrush but don't try to insert a USA 2 pin device or European device and expect 'current'!!
And the link to fuses were for 12v dc. Never use them in a/c situations.
Never 'persuade' the insertion, as WHS states, 'good way to burn the house down'

We are not talking about the dedicated shaver wall sockets here. But a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter. Different thing altogether.
The persuasion is only 2mm and perfectly safe. Again it is not for the dedicated wall socket.
I dug out the shaver adaptor I had to buy on my last trip to UK. I opened it up, and gasp, I know now why they are only rated at 1Amp. Talk about poor quality :)
BTW, the persuasion I mentioned before, seems to have been caused by the pins of the phone charger getting slightly squashed together on the journey.
