After doing a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit and downloading and installing the Win 7 64-bit software for my Epson Stylus Photo R220, I set up my print preferences to show a preview as I always do. But found that every time I sent a document to the printer, the print preview screen popped up - but the monitor display would go black for a few seconds and Windows would display a message saying "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding". I seem to have fixed that problem by increasing my refresh rate from 60Mhz to 75Mhz. But the print preview was still very slow to respond: the preview screen would appear on screen but it would take several long seconds for the content of the page(s) to come up.

I suspected that maybe the Epson Status Monitor was causing the problem. So I opened the Epson Printer preferences, clicked the Maintenance tab and then the Speed & Progress button - and disabled the Status Monitor. And sure enough, the next time I sent a document to the printer, the print preview displayed immediately, just like it always did on Vista!
