Hi,
I have been searching the net for this and have found out that on many sites like this have provided a small registry hack to enable aero in Vista home basic. As it was clear on the net, it worked with some people but it didn't with others. i want somebody(preferably the geek) to write a post or article about the fool-proof method for doing that

abhs. If it works for some people and not others, I suspect there is no "fool-proof" way of doing it!

I haven't verified this for sure, but I think that the hack doesn't work anymore.

If you legally purchased Windows Vista, you did not download any pirated software on the PC, and only turned on a feature that already existed on the Operating System, how could Microsoft suspend your license? I could understand if Microsoft suspended your license on a pirated version of Vista, or suspended your Office license on a pirated version of Office (but not Vista, because they are two separate programs). But when you are simply "tweaking" the OS to do something that is is capable of doing without any outside program(s) legal or not, I don't see how Microsoft could suspend your license. The program (in this case being the OS) belongs to you with the key that came with it.

jmcguire, It may be possible that MS operates differently in different parts of the world - for whatever reasons that the local system has dreamt up. Just think of the operational restrictions that were levied on the internet operators in China.

I completely forgot about that. I am used to using dealing with computer related issues from an American standpoint only. Good point whs.

Microsoft typically doesn't really care if you are registry hacking or theme hacking, as long as you aren't distributing files that only exist as part of a more expensive version or product. That goes for any corner of the world.

@Geek, yes and no. The T's&C's and the EULA can vary from country to country - I remember that very well from the computer business I was in. And what do we know how MS does business in the posters country. Also think of the US imposed export restrictions and the implications that could have.
