Hello fellow geeks and geekettes,

What are your thoughts on this software?
I bought a license for AdMuncher and it came with a license for Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6.0.
I'm not a fan of having too many software monitoring real-time activity but if it's worth it.. why not?!
I rarely run into any trouble. Last virus I got was probably 6-7 years ago and as far as spyware are concerned, I run a monthly scan of Malware Bytes, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot, CCleaner and Advanced Systemcare.
Also running Microsoft Security Essential.

-Posted in Win7 section since that's what I'm running but feel free to move to a better section.

You have no need for anything else but what you already have, er... had before this. There is no security software that you need that cannot be obtained free for the normal user. You had all the necessary good ones.

And they are not geekettes, they are amageeks.

I did not install it yet.
I KNOW I am covered but... if any of you has tried it before, what are your thoughts ?

Mixing too many security programs is detrimental to the system particularly those that act in real time.

Gismo's freeware likes it, his opinion is often pretty good. I see it's 113 MB's, seems a little big.

I uninstalled MSE (only real-time protection software I was using) and installed this Emsisoft Anti-Malware.
Can't hurt to try. Will keep you posted.

Also get rid of Advanced Systemcare it will do more harm than good to your systems performance.

I tried AVG. I hated it.
I tried Avast. I liked it.
I tried MSE. I think it's ok.
I use CCleaner, Spybot, MalwareBytes and the likes; it's great.
etc etc etc.

Now a new product comes to my attention. I want to try it. I ask for an opinion, I get answers not related to the topic.

When people ask for my help, I try to answer as best as I can.
So far the only acceptable answer was from whiplash55.

warlock, nothing to fix. I'm just curious and I like to try new things.

On a side note, I run a very tight ship around my pc (monitoring processes, using firefox with protection addons when visiting questionable sites, disabling unnecessary services - those installed by softwares - no longer tweaking Windows services [back when having 256mb ram was awesome yeah I would tweak Windows services but now, with and i7 8gb ram and crossfire 6850's, I don't need the extra 27mb - and the trouble that it may cause]).
Because of that I consider myself an advanced/power user. And because of that I've successfully fixed every issue I've ever ran into.

Also, your advice on Advanced Systemcare makes me curious. I've never had any trouble with it. I only run it on-demand to clean temp/junk files and defrag my secondary drives.
Although I don't always understand or agree with some advice I see you guys giving to other people I do respect your opinion and knowledge.
Please let me know why it is bad. I'll be more than happy to learn more.

Thanks

N.B. So far Emsisoft Anti-Malware does a good job. I've got nothing bad to say against it, expect that it takes 14 seconds to start (out of a 25 seconds Windows boot). Though I did not take the time to put it to test thoroughly.

--- edit ---
I Forgot. I do tweak a few Windows services for SSD-related stuff. Also disabling search (I know where to find things by myself thank you), indexing and tweaking pagefile...

afuhnk ,

Anything by iobit is bad news particularly they're Malware crusher as their progs tend to be spyware in themselves.

You say you use MBAM I take it you like it...GOOD. However it may interest you to know that iobit have a tendency to rip off MBAMs software, this is another reason why they can't be trusted.

Thanks for the heads up GuiltySPark. I'll look further into this.

raphoenix, I don't OC (proc or vid). I prefer running a stable out-of-the-box system. It's awesome enough. I do like the idea of overclocking and I may actually try it some day (but I've been saying that ever since I got my first pc in 1998 so it may never happen ;) ). I have a i7 2600 (not the 2600k) so it's not fully overclockable, as I'm told. With a 24" 1080p 120Hz monitor I get an average 90+ fps in BF3 (but I cap the FPS at my monitor rez (120)).

afuknk, we have very similar setups except for 2600K and only one 6850.

I've got to order some parts and just wondering if a second 6850 would be good.

They are inactive now but probably could still find one more.

New hardware will be available in a couple months so this Build will go to charity.

Not sure if I want to invest anymore into it.

Thanks for sharing,

Rick P.
