It would be nice if you could add emoticons when you post something. Like :) or :( stuff like that.

Agreed, that would be cool, and I do believe not too hard to make either :-)

Haha, well, how about emoticons, but the option to enable and disable... now that would be tricky to ecomplish, but worth it... Although I do see your point, they can be annoying!

Hi Guys,

A lot of forums have a standard ability to insert emoticons, but I feel it is part of the charm of HTG that we don't have that. It often ends up with emoticons all over the place with little meaning.
And I think textemoticons work perfectly well!
Or something like <grin>.

However ...
I do like nice visuals as much as the next one (one of the great pré's on Vista <LOL>) (ok admitted: Whs might be excluded there ;D),
so if you want to add a specific emoticon suitable to the occasion you can just as easily upload a nice gif or png to photobucket and paste that in.
In Photobucket you can sort images in 'albums', so you can make a special album for a couple of your fav. emoticons.
But hey! Make sure they do add something more than a mere textemoticon and no overkill please ;)

Edit: I took to long writing, you posted a lot in the meantime! LOL

Agreed, uploading and embedding a little .gif image is a good idea and substitute to the idea :P

And I always thought this here was a technical Forum and not a kids playpen.

Jordan, It was not my intent to hurt anybody. I love this Forum because it is "clean" and I would like to keep it that way. I have been around here long enough to see things come and go. But things that come, should be for the better - in the sense of the mission of this Forum. Animations should not be spread over the technical side of the house - I think. Maybe we can confine them to Off-Topic. Then at least we do not water down the serious part of our work.
