ppl,

i bought a acer extensa notebook recently with windows vista home basic installed. i never got any recovery/ setup cd along with it. in computer management i noticed that 10 gb of space has been allocated to "EISA partition". i googled and found that this actually contains the setup and recovery files. i dont know as how to view/burn these files to a dvd/cd. so i downloaded the recovery iso image from the neosmart forums and have created a bootable vista recovery cd.

my question right now is:

1. is it possible for me to extract/burn the setup files from the EISA partition to a dvd? (i dont want any help regarding creating any recovery cd. what i want is to find a way to burn the setup files from my EISA partition to create a setup disk)

i have spent countless hours searching the internet for a solution but in vain.

many thanks.

Usually there is a shortcut to a Recovery disc wizard or similar in the Start Menu to burn a disc.
Have you looked for something like that in the Start Menu All Programs list?

sset9, welcome to the forum. I have an Acer, too, so I know the answer to this one. In the pre-installed software, Acer includes an "eRecorey Management" utility. This utility will make you recovery discs from that EISA partition. On my system, the utility is in Start -> All Programs -> Acer Empowering Technology -> Acer eRecovery Management. Usually they leave a link on your desktop, too, but you may have already cleaned that up.
