I have recently been doing a lot of work with browsers and installed all the 'Usual Suspects' on my laptop.

However when I go to Default Programs (Vista Home Premium SP1) specifically Set Program Access and Computer Defaults and the Custom list shows Chrome in the list of browsers twice.

I have Chrome as my default browser currently and I am not experiencing any problems but what I eould like to know is how I remove one of these entries from the list (I don't want to uninstall Chrome)

I'm assuming there's a registtry entry somewhere ....

As I said it's not causing me any problems (and I don't know how it got there) but would just like to tidy things up ...

Thanks for any advice :-)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts.

Now look for .html file extension , remove the duplicate entry for Chrome

P.S: if no luck , post teh screenshot of the following location and will let you know

While trying to find an answer to this issue, one of the things I did was to move the Chrome folder out of the Programs Files folder (to the desktop) and checked the 'Set Program Access and Computer Defaults' again - Chrome had been removed from the list ...

To make sure this wasn't just related to Chrome I tried it with another couple of my default programs VLC, Media Player and Safari, both had the same result.

When removed from the Programs Files folder they were also removed from the defaults list, when put back they were reinstated to the defaults.

Now totally confused :-)
