dual booting windows 7 and xp

I was following your very good tutorial to load XP onto my new Acer Windows 7 pc hoping that I may have missed something obvious when I tried to do it prior to finding your site.

All was well until it was partway through loading the windows files prior to installing. The PC then crashed with the dreaded blue screen.

I have used this DVD on other PCs and it has been OK, but keeps falling over on this PC.

The program we wish to use is a very very old DOS program which I have managed to get to work on XP but not on Win 7.

Do you have any suggestions - either why my XP installation keeps failing, or how I might get my 20 year old DOS program to work under Windows 7

Not wanting to dual boot my Windows 7 (64bit) and my old Windows XP pro just to have XP access to a program only used occasionally, installed VMWare player and installed XP as a virtual machine. Works fine for me.
