Hi, When I try to download a jpeg file to my picture folder with windows vista it sends it to temporary internet files folder. After I hit save this is what pops up.
For you computer's security, this file was saved to the Temporary Internet Files Folder
Do you want to open this folder? When click on yes a box opens. In the bar at the top is say Windows Temporary Internet Files Virualized. In the box below there is a folder with the leter C if you click on it it gives you a program data folder and a users folder when you click on those there is still no picture. Is there something I can disable to stop it from sending the file to the Windows Temporary Internet Files?

Downloading problems with Vista
(4 posts)Hi Deedle,
Maybe I can help, by default Window will save any internet files into the Temp Internet Folder. If you want it in a specific location or folder, it needs to be directed to it. You can right click on the mouse and choose save picture as, a new window will pop up and on the lower left should be a browse button to redirect it to your desire location. As long as Internet Explorer is open, it will remember your last specify location. If you open up a different browser like Firefox, it will most likely return to the default location, which is the temp internet folder or inside the My Documents in older OS. Is there a way to disable it? I will say most likely it's a no.
Peterofnj, The image I am viewing is from ancestry.com and I am viewing it with their image viewer. When you right click all you get is in on the properties. When I had xp I could save it right to my picture folder. I hate the xtra step with saving it to the Temp Internet Folders but I can't find it there either.
Hi Deedle,
I took a look at Ancestry.com, a great site by the way. The site has Flash and other stuff, since I didn't register to research on anything specify, I may not be encountering the same problem. I can only offer a general help. If their image viewer does not allow you to save the picture and you really want to (I know this may not be your question) here is a way, but will require an even more step. You can hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard to take a snap shot of your window screen. Open up Microsoft Paint or your personal image editing program like Photoshop or whatever and Ctrl+N, then Ctrl+ P. (It's just Ctrl+P on Microsoft Paint) This will paste the image, then you can crop and save the file. This is one way to get over protected images.

Another thing that might or might not help is right clicking on the Internet Explorer property and move some of the priority down or allowing certain script to run might or might not do it. This is something you can try, be sure to set all perimeter back to the way it was afterward to protect your computer from malicious scripts on the web.

I don't want to recommend programs, but an alternate internet explorer like Opera might just do the trick, or it might make no difference. Please take a look at Opera. (In Opera, Ctrl+click to save picture from the web)

The below information is from malektips.com, it might or might not be helpful.
1) Clear your Internet Cache. From Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" then "Options". When the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "General" tab. Click "Delete Files", then when the dialog appears, click "OK".
2) If this doesn't work, visit the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

3) If this still doesn't work, you may need to rename your saved file as a .JPG manually. Read Microsoft Knowledge Base Article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
