I am using Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. Since two days my Compaq Presario V3424TU Notebook is not detecting any of my USB devices connected to it. I suspected a hardware problem but right now I put my pen drive in the port while logging in to Ubuntu 8.10 and it was instantly detected 3 times. Please suggest me a method to resolve this problem as I dont want to re-install my windows, its a last option.

Please help.

pjeet89,

While in Windows, try re-installing the Intel Main Chipset Driver.

Your machine uses the 945 Chipset family I believe?

Think it is a 945GM or 945GML Chipset.

Look up model information to be sure on http://hp.com

This is Intel Site for Chipset Driver download (ONLY) (IF) you can't find Chipset Driver on HP.
