I'm probably the only person in the world that would be upset by this. When I double click on the computer icon I still see my hard drive and dvd drives, but I no longer see the heading "Files on this computer" and my document folder and the public sharing folders are no longer there. Can anyone help? Many thanks.

I am holding Rick, thanks for the quick reply. Last time I posted in a forum, it was three weeks before anyone even read the thread.

Tannim,

Sorry about your bad past HTG experience a while back.

I have been monitoring your topic and was hoping one of the members running Vista in Theme Mode would pick up on the thread.

I don't think?? I can duplicate your issue because I'm running XP3 in very fast Classic, Classic mode.

Reply back and that should put you high up on the list again.

If no answer by morning, I'll ask some Vista member by E-mail to jump in.

Kindest Regards,
Rick P.

When you last saw this category, did you have Windows XP or Windows Vista? I ask as I don't have it on my Vista install and don't see any Google results for it and Vista. Thus I think it may have been removed in Windows Vista.

I had it about a week ago, and I've been running vista for about a year now. I can't recall any system changes or added software in the last couple of weeks, so I'm a bit confused.

I concur with jd2066. I have not seen those in Vista either ? They sound very XP.

I am not sure what you are looking for. Is it this you want?

Of course I'm at my XP machine and not my Vista, but I think they are similar in this case. In My Computer click on Tools...Folder Options then pick the View tab. There are many options that you can play around with to see if you get what you are looking for.

Tannim, hello. Are you referring to "Files Stored on this Computer" as shown below?

This is only used in XP, as far as I know. In My Computer, go to the menu View -> Arrange Icons by -> select "Type". In the same menu, make sure there is a check mark by "Show in Groups".

Hey ScottW, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I had them in Vista until about a week ago. Sad to see them go.

Hmm, strange. I have never seen anything like that in Vista. The whole thing does not look like Vista in the first place.

Drifta, I did not get confused between vista and xp, I had them on my laptop, which has only ever had vista on it. I appreciate the help guys, but just because you don't know doesn't make me wrong. Thanks anyway, I'll seek help elsewhere.

Tannim, no need to get upset. This is just very different than what we have ever seen. That does not imply that we think you are wrong. I wonder whether anybody else has ever seen that. If yes, he/she should tell us. I am really curious from where that stems.

Oh, I am not upset in the least. I am just obviously in the wrong place to resolve this issue.

As I said, I am not upset, I am just in the wrong place. A forum where people assume that if they don't know about it, it doesn't exist will not help. I have contacted Microsoft, paid for support and resolved the issue.

Too bad he did not let us know what MS said. So we'll be innocent for life.
