We got a decent run of Doctor Who episodes this Monday and I just got to see a few of them tonight, with a new bottle of Absinthe. So tell me, my friends from across the pond, how many "extras" do you get (we do not get your Christmas Specials) and is your Absinthe as expensive as ours? (cheapest I can find is 36-65 US which is about 2-3 euros nowadays so sad).

But for reals, I love Doctor Who, and if I can get the stuff we miss out on here in the US, I would greatly appreciate it.

What does it matter - after a few glasses you won't remember the price anyhow. I'll check the price next time I am in a store that sells it.

i didn't even think that you could get absinthe in the us? and i think the conversion factor isn't that bad but is still pretty bad either way you look at it.

I very much doubt the Absinthe sold now is TRUE Absinthe.
TRUE Absinthe is made from wormwood, which contains THC (the active chemical found in cannabis)

We have one old bottle of absinthe in the house. It's 45% alcohol by volume (approx 90 proof) and contains very little, if any, thujone.
That is a commercial brand.
In France, for drinks like absinthe and Eau d'Vie you have to go for the home made stuff. Minimum 80% (160 proof). This can be made legally or illegally.

Back to Dr Who. I used to watch it years ago, and recently got to see the last 3 years worth. Vast improvement I thought.

It was great to see them bring back Doctor Who, but I hear that they have run a special or two over there and we haven't gotten them over here very sad.

As for the absinthe, I'm pretty sure the infusion of the wormwood is pretty weak. I must admit, a nice cup of wormwood and Damiana tea before bed is always nice, once you develop a taste for bitter teas that is!

I haven't seen any specials either, yet.
Maximum amount of thujone allowed (per bottle) in Europe is 35mg. Thats the commercial stuff.

Check out the episode tab on this page for Doctor Who (2005) show listings:
http://www.tv.com/doctor-who-2.....mmary.html

There are a small number of shows marked "Special".

There is usually a "Christmas Special". But I haven't seen one as of yet. (and they tend to be more of a pilot for the coming season)
