I have a new Dell 1420 that also goes to a lower resolution after waking up from sleep mode. It is supposed to be 1280 X 800, and the suggestion that a lower resolution is what the hardware is designed for is incorrect. If anyone comes up with a solution for the problem, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

HI,

I also have a Dell 1420. It was ok for the past few months until recently when I start up the laptop, the resolution is set to 1024 x 768. The original resolution was 1280 x 800. I'm using microsoft 965 chipset.

Have tried to re-adjust the resolution back to orignal but no such option for it. It only gives me selection of 800x600 and 1024x768.

One thing I notice, there's no Dell logo and Microsoft logo during startup.

Can somebody help?

My folks bought a Dell Inspiron 1521 with ATI video card and are having the exact same problem - resolution resets to 800x600 upon restart or sleep. Dell said the problem was McAfee but after uninstalling McAfee, problem still exists. Tried changing the power options with no luck. Solution would be greatly appreciated.
