Hello All
I have got my disk fragmentation on a schedule but I still don’t know much about my Disc Cleanup

When going into Disc cleanup options- I know I click onto My Files
Then I click onto vista(c) where it starts to calculate which has to be cleaned ( I’m ok up to there)

It then gives me a window with…..

Download program files *
Temporary Internet Files *
Hibernation filter
Recycle Bin *
Setup Temporary files
Thumbnails *
Error reports

The ones with I have high lightered with a * have a tick at the side of them.
Should I have another tick against hibernation filter cleaner as it says that there is 1.87 GB in it?

Now once all this is sorted - DO I click onto them one at a time and click OK repeat it until all has been cleaned?
AND MOST IMPORTANTLEY will I loose any of my photo’s ( under thumbnails) or my favourite links on Google (under temporary files)

Sorry for being such a silly bugger but I do not want to take the risk in anything going wrong

grandma-sue. I recommend you use CCleaner rather than Windows Disk Cleanup. (there are issues with it, and better to be safe than sorry if you not sure how to use it)

Have a look at it, and get back to us if you need more info

Thank you Lighthouse (smile)
Its so nice that you have answered my question so soon.
Can you tell me before I download - IF IT WILL BE OK to run a long side Norton Security as they are supposed to get rid of cookie? OR I'm I on the wrong wave length here?

Perfectly safe (as far as I know). Most of the people I know use CCleaner, on all sorts of setups, and I have not heard of a problem yet

O.K. I will get on with it- by the way I think I should have DON'T PANIC tattooed on my forehead then every-time I look in the mirror I'll hopefully calm myself down hehehe

I've run Windoes Disk Cleaner, and one of the options to clear is "Hibernation File Cleaner" and it is 3.49GB, so I'm just wondering what deleting these files would do and if I should? Default cleanup doesn't delete them so I'm gonna ask here haha.
Thanks

Do you "hibernate" your computer?

When you use hibernation or hybrid sleep in Vista, all data in RAM is saved to your hard disk in a hidden system file called hiberfil.sys. That file must be at least the size of available RAM, in your case about 3.5 GB. The "hibernation file cleaner" in Vista's Disk Cleanup will delete that file and disable hibernation. To re-enable hibernation:

Okay, erm, I don't use it tbh, It's just when I leave my computer. Would I actually notice any performance effects id I deleted it?
