When i attempt to open my ie8 homepage it literally exits off to the right side of my computer screen.
Why does this happen?
How can I restore my disappearing homepage?

Does this happen whenever you open any other shortcuts (to other urls)? Or just when you open IE with a homepage preset?

This happens with opening my desktop folders also.

This happens with opening my desktop folders also. When I attempt to open any desktop folder it goes directly into a folder icon on the taskbar labeled 'Libraries'.
This started occurring only 2 days ago. I have no idea what I did to cause this to happen. Thank goodness I have 'Firefox' to fall back on.

Looks like you have been infected. See if you can download this, install, update it, and run a deep scan,

I downloaded, installed & updated the updated version of the anti-malware software.
I ran a full system scan. It did find 100 infected files but unfortunately my problem still exists.

Yeah, those viruses/worms damage files, and cripple the operating system, in your case, the funtionality of windows explorer, at least. Are you prepared to do a Recovery: have your files backed up? What is the make & model of your PC?

See this link for how to recover your system, wiping out the infection in the process. Have you been backing up, or can you lose what's on there to gain operation back?

If the Recovery is still there, it will bring you back to Vista.
