I have a acer aspire 5920g laptop it has a 160gb hardrive partitioned into a c and d drive the d drive has 32gb free space and keeps this most of the time, the c drive on the other hand is down to 6gb if i delete the shadow copies every few days it goes up to 12gb but in a couple of days it goes down again this is without installing any new programmes.

A shadow is being written each day and also with each update - appr. 1GB each. Plus there are always temporary files that you can delete with CCleaner. Suggest also you delete the hibernation file. Open an elevated Command Prompt and type (or paste): powercfg.exe -h off
