I use online rogers protection as my antivirus, and I recently got borderlands, when I try to connect to online games it always times out. I later figured out that my firewall was blocking port 16000. Is there anyway using rogers online protection to disable the firewall blocking port 16000? Thanks

Hi computernerd, I had never heard of Rogers Online Protection (ROP) before so I had a little look around. From what I have seen so far (have a look here ), it does not seem to be the best of options. There are plenty of other free anti-virus/firewall programs out there that you could try. Even Microsoft Security Essentials with the Vista firewall is more than ample if set up right. All firewalls should have options to configure ports to open, I can´t test ROP for you as I am using Win 7 and it´s not supported. Are you also behind a router? If so which make and model, sometimes routers have built-in firewalls that also need configuring. Matt

AVG 9.0 is just an ant-virus (but a good choice), you need to open a port in a firewall somewhere. Do you have a router? Or are you using the Vista firewall? Matt

computernerd, could you tell us the make and model of your router please, so we can have a look if there is a built in firewall and how to open ports in it. Thx, Matt

I use an D-Link DIR-615 router and I don't think it's my routers problem because when I turned off the windows firewall I could play on borderlands.

I can now join games but I still can't host games even with my ports open? Any help?
