(Solved) - Directx 3d test failed

Trying to get game running. Keep getting "directx cannot create the device for ares"
Ran Directx diagnostic tool--Test 7 failed @ 0x80004005 (generic failure)
Test 8 failed @ 0x8876086c (error code)
Test 9 failed @ 0x8876086c (error code)
What do I do now??
I already downloaded updates for Directx.

Have you updated your video adapter with the latest drivers?

Try installing most recent Driver for the Video Card.

Solved----Ati-Radeon said i already have the latest drivers for Radeon 9600 card. I later found an updated driver but was warned against installing it because it was an unsigned driver and could potentially harm my computer. Being desperate, i installed it anyway and it solved my problem.
