Look i was wondering how to put an analog clock onto my desktop. Saw it on another vista users computer and would like to have that. Any advice to work this one out?

Install a sidebar and there you can get a collection of analog clocks. From the sidebar you can drag it to any place on the desktop. But there are a lot of other nifty functions you can put into the sidebar too. Type SID into the Start Search field and Sidebar will appaer on top.
PS. Once you have the clock, highlight and click the little wrench on the top right of the clock. In the appearing window you will see that there are 8 different options of clocks - some real pretty. You will need this window also to set the time zone.

The things that are useful are : CPU Meter, Weather report, AppLauncher (real neat), Slide show, Stock market etc., etc.
Once you have the toolbar, click on the + on top and the "sidebar window" shows up. It also has a link to another major set of options on the web that you can download.

The AppLauncher is a little box (that gets bigger as you put things in) where you drag the icons of programs and folders. As it is 'always on top', you can launch any program and folder from there. I have 24 programs and folders in there right now (all browsers, HGT Forum, some radio stations, external disk, USB stick, media player, mail, the Snipping Tool that I use a lot, a bunch of folders I often use, etc.). Advantage over Quick Launch: 1) you always see them, 2) only 1 click to launch, 3) neatly organized in rows and colums.
What you have to do is put the AppLauncher box into the sidebar, then create a folder (I put it on the desktop) into where you store all your shortcuts, then drag the shortcuts from there into the AppLauncher box. You must leave the shortcuts in that folder because if you move them, AppLauncher will loose the path to them.
I use Quick Launch too, but only for my system utilities such as Spybot, Process Explorer, CCleaner, WinPatrol, etc - about 20 of them.

Yes you can have a clock like that on Windows XP.
There are other sidebar programs you can download that work on Windows XP. They can also run on Windows Vista if there is something about them you like better then the Windows Sidebar in Vista.
Here are some:
Desktop Sidebar
Google Sidebar, part of Google Desktop
Yahoo Widgets
