why didnt u get vista?
and also I find the media centre app itself really pointless and slow, i am really tempted to uninstall it, but i dont know if there is anyway of getting it back for free if u suddenly need it
anybody know anything about this?

If you remove Media Centre from your Vista. You will have problems with future Vista Updates.

The media center version of XP is pretty much the same as XP Home only you get Media Center functions like Recording TV and DVR functions assuming you have a TV Tuner card.

deathdice, regarding your statemement that Vista is a hog I just read a comparison XP-Vista today. This is the summary data. Since it is in German, I will translate it - the greener the arrow, the better:

- Overall results
1. Security
2. Ease of use
3. Performance
- System start
- Copy Data
- Photoshop Start
