turned it on, and it froze up on the sign in screen so i manually sut it off. i was able to sign in land it started loading. and it froze again. so we turned it off and unplugged it. upon turning it on says file record segment xxxxxx is unreadable. keeps sayin 9 percent complete xxxxxx of xxxxxxfile records processed. I am helping a family that lives close and relies on this computer for everything. can you please tell me how to save it. she did a backup a while ago. so thats not omg important..

ok 189440 file records processed
file verification completed
461 large file records processed
10%complete.(10 of 63 bad file records processed)

Welcome to HTG ,

From the outset it's difficult to diagnose, it sounds like it could be an overheating problem however, there also sounds like system corruption.
Are you able to boot up fine in Safe Mode with Command Prompt ?
