Tuesday, December 25, 2012 DELL Studio 1555 power up problem.
The 1555 with & without a battery will not power up & load the OS. Stops with the DELL logo and the bar under Studio about 2/3 of the way across. The only key that does anything is the ESC which brings up a screen with the start up info and “Press <F2> to enter SETUP” but none of the keys do anything at this point. Only thing I can do is power off the laptop & start again with the same results.

You could try a static discharge. Power off your machine, unplug from AC, remove the battery, and press repeatedly the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the battery again in place and plug the computer to AC and see if the problem persists.
You could also try removing the CMOS battery (while unplugged and without battery) and repeat the process above to clear all BIOS settings, you may need to search for the service manual of your PC to see how to do this (I'll post link to it as soon as I find it).
EDIT: See here: http://support.dell.com/suppor.....#wp1179839
Be cautious when removing the battery, do not apply too much force.
Then I imagine a hardware component is damaged. You could try checking RAM. Do you have two RAM memory modules? Try using only one of them, remove the other as shown in the service manual (again unplugged and without battery):

If it still does not work, then remove the other and set in place the one you removed first. If you only have one RAM module, place it in the other slot.
If this is not the problem then we will think of another things, although at this time I don't know what else you could try, maybe other people in forum can help you better.
