Desktop system in which I installed a wireless LAN adapter, Linksys, I am sure, which, at that time I was using on a wireless home network. It was working fine communicating with the router.
Since then, I have access to a WLAN modem (Clearwire) that I have hooked up via ethernet cable. The system will not recognize this setup at all, I am sure it is a setting on the connect to utility that needs to be changed, trouble is, I cannot get the system to recognize the Clearwire modem at all !
I would like to keep the wireless connectivity, as well establish a wired conection via the modem, how do I go about setting this up? Would it be possible to easily add a connectivity icon on my desktop or tab section to select between the 2 modes? Actually, I would prefer if the system would select the wired mode automatically, then the wireless mode should the wired modem signal be lost. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance folks !

Ok. After reading your post I'm not sure what you want to do.
Here is list of things I'm guessing it is, can you reply back with which is correct?
1) The modem acts as a wireless router and you want to connect that to another wireless router.
2) The modem acts as a wireless router with wired access option and you want to plug that wired access into another wireless router.
3) The modem only has a wired option and you want to connect it to a wireless router.
4) Something else entirely.

Thanks JD for your resonse, sorry for the confusion, this is what I would like to accomplish.
Dell desktop in which I had installed a WAN adapter which is wirelessly connected to my router, this works fine.
I now want to connect a wired modem (Clearwire) to this same sytem, which I have, but it does not recognize this connection, for some strange reason, in other words, the wireless connection works, but when I connect the wired modem, my system does not recognize it at all.......I do know that I have a choice for connectivity, it's just that I do not know how to do this....or forgot how in my recent weaining onto Vista from XP.
Hope this makes sense to you, in effect I made a desktop capable of WAN connection thru this adapter, but now am attempting to make it wired instead, or a combination of both, whicheve suits me, if at all possible.
Aloha from Hawaii !

I'm still a little confused. Shouldn't you be able to connect the router to the modem and the computer could use the internet access via the router?

I do not want to use the router at all, I just want to plug in the Clearwire modem directly onto the computer. The existing wireless router/cable modem works fine, I just want to add an additional wired modem to the system and have both capabilities, if possible, just like a notebook.
Presently I have 2 modems, Time Warner cable (which is hooked up to the router) and Clearwire, hope this clears any confusion....

So you have:
1. Internet service with Time Warner cable going to a modem that plugs into a wireless router.
2. Internet service with Clearwire wireless going to a modem.

So I guess the goal is to connect to Clearwire if the cable access goes down?
The problem then is that when you plug the Clearwire modem into your computer you don't get internet access.
What connection does the Clearwire modem use to your computer?
If it's Ethernet or USB then it should appear in Control Panel->Network Connections as a Network Connection named like "Local Area Connection". Does it say Enabled there or something like "Network Cable Unpluged"?
