It's so simple that it is ridiculous. I permanently deleted a file which I downloaded myself and it still appears in my 'downloads' folder. When I try to delete it, the system tells me that it cannot delete the file because it cannot find it. But as I said, I had already deleted it a few minutes earlier.

Is there a way I can delete this file?

Thanks!

Hi nafaziram. See if it has disappeared after you reboot the computer.

If it really bothers you, type INDEXING OPTIONS into the start/search, hit Enter , go to ADVANCED and then to REBUILD. That will rebuild your index and those files will disappear. You do, however, pay the price of reindexing.

check in task manager and see if it is running as a process, and if it is end the process tree then try and deleting it, if it is an application it may still be in use.

What is the NAME of the file you deleted?

Many virus programs are recreated by either a startup or registry entry once rebooted. Have you run any A/V or Malware program to see if you are infected?
