I have a western Digital external gard drive that i dropped from my desk. The part where the usb connector attaches to send the data to the pc broke off and now i have lost it. A friend of mine suggested that the CPU could be accessed somehow by a different way and the files transferred. Can any one tell me if this can be done and explain so i can do it. Thank you.

Damaged External Hard Drive HELP PLEASE
(3 posts)Nowadays, almost every external hard drives use the same hard drives as laptops. What I'd do is buy myself and external sata case like this one;

Open the external drive and insert it in the HD case>connect to another computer via USB and extract all info. That's if the hard drive isn't damage internally.
